The largest event though the journey is taking part in Barcamp Baltics'09 in Riga at February, 6-8th, 2009.
Barcamp is the main occasion to visit Latvia in February and the main reason to hold TravelBar in particular days and in Baltics.
Riga is the meet for international team of participants. Together they will go to Reval Hotel Latvia (barcamp venue) and actively participating in the second annual Baltic barcamp.
All (we think that's true) participants of TravelBar are also participants of Barcamp Baltics'09 . Barcamp organizers from Latvia help participants from other countries to get visas - make invitations.
Important! Period for filing application to get invitation ended on January, 10th, 2009. If you are late then you are responsible to get a visa yourself.

Getting to Riga

To get to Riga one can use an auto or a bus Ticket price: 1500 RBL in one direction (1600 RBL if buying from agents directly at the bus stop). The bus departures everyday at 8:30PM from the square near Rizhskiy railway station.
A bus and a train takes approx. 15 hours to get to Riga from Moscow. An airplane take just 1 hour 45 minutes to fly there.
Train ticket in one direction costs from 2700 - 4600 RBL depends on class of seat.
The train "Moscow - Riga " (001Р) departures at 7:10PM and arrives to Riga at 11:05AM(MSK).
Airplane ticket in one direction costs from 4200 RBL. There are may be special offers from airlines as in last year.
There are two flights a day from Moscow to Riga (combined: Aeroflot and AirBaltics), at 7:10AM и 10:45PM. Flight time - 1 h. 45 min..
Important! Time in Riga (GMT+2) is in an hour less than time in Moscow (GMT+3).
Accommodation in Riga
Barcamp Baltics venue - Reval Hotel Latvia - 4 stars hotel. So, one can stay in there at value of 80-130 euros per night.
There are special prices for Barcamp Baltics'09 participants: 60 euro for SINGLE and 70 euro for DOUBLE. Read the Barcamp blog how to get special price.
As an economy accommodation the hostel Dome Pearl recommended by Alexei Filatov (one of the barcamp organizers). Prices are from 8 till 50 euros, depending on room.
